Like you, we are battling for the Ukrainian people and the Russians in prayer. I hope you find this prayer helpful, as we use the weapon of God’s Word against powerful enemies:
Father,
Nothing is too hard for you. Your arm is not too short to save, nor is your ear too dull to hear. You hear the cry of the afflicted and rescue them when they call.
Great and awesome God, we appeal to you to confuse the enemy, turn them back, divide them, and draw their hearts to you. We pray for the Russian soldiers to abandon the battlefield out of their own conscience, and decent soldiers to refuse to advance their troops. May the desperate cries of children haunt them in the night, and may they wake to your Presence in the dawn.
We pray for world leaders to reach a consensus of what is good in your eyes. We pray they do not bow to fear, but hold themselves accountable to You only. May they hear your voice from heaven, and give them courage to direct the onslaught against the enemy.
May no weapon forged against the Ukrainian people prevail. May you turn the Russian army on their heads, confound them, discourage them, and convict them. Destroy their schemes and turn them back in utter shame.
“OH THAT YOU WOULD SLAY THE WICKED, MEN OF BLOODSHED; DEPART!” – Psalm 139:19
In your own voice Lord, we cry out for the Ukranian people: “If anyone does attack you it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you!” (Isaiah 54:15).
May the Ukrainian people receive the promise of Psalm 18:
The LORD is my rock my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God is my rock … my shield … my stronghold.
I call the the LORD … and I am saved from my enemies.
The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.
In my distress … I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice…
The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook;
They trembled because of he was angry.
Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.
He parted the heavens and came down … He made darkness his covering … the dark rain clouds of the sky …
The LORD thundered from heaven, the voice of the Most High resounds.
He shot his arrows and scattered the enemies, great bolts of lighting and routed them.
He reached down from on high and took hold of me … He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support … He rescued me because he delighted in me. (Psalm 18:1-19).
“May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.” (Psalm 68:1)
In Jesus’s name, Amen
